It began with a different vision-yellow was meant to take over, with red as just a starting layer. But as the brush moved, the red held its ground. It deepened, spoke, and refused to be overshadowed.
I stepped away, thinking l’d return to add more. But in that pause, I saw it clearly-it didn’t need more. The richness, the depth, the quiet strength-it was already Perfect.
A forest bathed in red, standing tall and unwavering.
Layers of warmth and texture pull you in, while the soft mist whispers a quiet mystery. Bold yet serene, passionate yet peaceful-just like love itself.
Because sometimes, the most beautiful things don’t need to be changed. They just need to be seen.
This painting began with a reference picture I loved.
The original scene featured trees on a hill casting beautiful reflections in the water. As I worked, I found inspiration from another photo in my gallery, captivated by the movement of the branches. This painting is a blend of those two scenes and resembles a smaller piece I had created earlier. I once decided to recreate that smaller piece on a larger canvas, believing its beauty would be magnified. Though it wasn’t my initial intention, the idea stayed in my subconscious, guiding me to create this piece.
I love this painting just as much as my other works. Its soothing effect on my eyes and its playful nature inspired me to name it “Play.” Now, it stands as a beautiful work, featuring colors beloved by many of my viewers and cherished by a few who have bought it.
A painting that adequately conveys the grandeur of these magnificent trees, which are seen as a representation of creation as a whole, since they include the four essential elements of life- water, earth, air and fire. When we enter their presence in this artwork, they offer a sense of calm and serenity since they are firmly anchored. The hues of red here represent the unconditional love that these beings possess. Humans are hurried, but sometimes we just need to stop, pay attention, and learn from their sacred place so that we can experience God’s presence. This painting reminds me of the words of Lord Krishna to Arjuna, “I am in the tree that you see. I am in the ocean. I am in the earth. See me in everything.”
I’ll be honest, “Purna” didn’t arrive with a message. It didn’t whisper anything to me in the beginning. It was just colors and brushstrokes.
But somewhere along the way, the painting grew fuller than my intention. As I painted, something gentle unfolded in the colors… a quiet warmth, a soft sense of fullness I didn’t expect.
The reflections were part of that feeling. I kept them still on purpose, without adding the usual ripples or movement. I don’t know why, but it felt right to leave them calm… I didn’t question it at the time, but now I realize I wanted the water to hold peace, not change.
That’s when the name “Purna” came to me, a word that holds the feeling of being complete, full, and quietly blessed. It matched what the painting had become for me, not what it was when I began.
So yes… it didn’t start with meaning. But it ended by giving me one.
I hope “Purna” brings the same warmth and wholeness into your space that it brought into my heart while creating it.
