Right from the start, I saw a moon in white. I tried giving it other shades, but no matter what I did, it kept finding its way back—like it had been quietly listening to me all along. This painting captures a forest under a night sky. The trees stand tall, their dark branches layered with cool tones of blue, and the ground fades softly into white. Amid it all, the moon glows gently—just the way I imagined—soft, still, and present.

Edgar Degas once said, “A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, and some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly plain you end up boring people.” This painting, titled Little of Everything, also speaks the same.

What appears as mere shadows at first glance is, in fact, a distant group of trees, intentionally left vague to instill a sense of mystery. As I sat down to describe my painting, it reminded me of this beautiful poem by Rumi, and I couldn’t write anything more than this. It goes “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other” doesn’t make any sense.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
