Farm View won the Best of Show in the Hundred Valleys Exhibit at the Umpqua Valley Arts Association in September 2008. The painting is of an area close to where I live. I really enjoyed painting the typical Oregon sky!

Red Dress at Market

Red Dress at Market just won the Grand Prize Award from Mirror Pond Gallery National Watercolor and Pastel Exhibit in Bend, OR. The painting will be on the cover of the Cascade Arts and Entertainment November 2009 issue. Red Dress at Market is based on the fish market in Athens, Greece. While I was there in 2004 I took lots of reference photos. I used a couple of photos to compose this painting, but the lady in red was from my imagination. Red Dress at Market just won the Cascade Arts and Entertainment Cover Award from Mirror Pond Gallery in Bend. The painting will be on the cover of the November 2009 issue.

Grand Prize Winner! Mirror Pond Show

Last night was the opening reception for the Mirror Pond Gallery National Pastel and Watercolor Exhibit in Bend, OR. I was thrilled and honored to be chosen for the Cascade Arts and Entertainment Cover Award. The award, worth $1,200 means that the painting will be on the magazine cover in November 2009. I was also be featured in an article. I am so excited!

Paint out at the Duck Pond in Roseburg

Yesterday I joined 5 other area artists at the Duck Pond in Roseburg. The clear blue skies and gorgeous fall colors made it a perfect day for painting. I’m not very experienced at painting water, but at a duck pond, what else can you paint? It was an enjoyable day! Hopefully the weather will cooperate so that we can get a few more painting days in before the wet season!
